Two Sherpas from the Khumbu

Beyul Adventure Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 2007 by Ang Jangbu Sherpa and Pasang Tshering Sherpa. Both grew up in the Khumbu and had already spent years in Himalayan tourism. They started Beyul to run treks and expeditions the way they believed they should be run: carefully, honestly, and with people they knew.

Today we provide full logistics and professional guiding across Nepal and Tibet. Our team in Kathmandu arranges the permits, flights, lodges, camps and crews, and we work to protect the nature and culture of the valleys we walk through.

Pasang and Jangbu have run Beyul Adventure side by side since they founded it. When you write to us, one of them reads your message, designs your route and stays in touch until you are home.

Ang Jangbu Sherpa

Co-founder · Director · Everest summiteer

Jangbu was born in Phortse, the Khumbu village known for its climbers, and studied at the Hillary school there. He began his career on the 1981 Everest expedition and spent the next decade with Colonel Jimmy Roberts, the founder of Nepal's first trekking company, at Mountain Travel Nepal. In those years he summited Everest, Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal, along with many trekking peaks.

He was in the very first class of the Nepal Mountaineering Association's instructor course and has volunteered as an Outward Bound instructor. In 1990 he climbed with Scott Fischer on the American Everest–Lhotse Expedition, the start of a lasting friendship, and in 2003 he co-led IMG's Cho Oyu expedition. He has also guided trips in Tibet, Mongolia and Africa, and climbed many of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks and classic alpine summits in Europe.

Off the clock

After a lifetime in the mountains, Jangbu still heads into them for fun. He's a keen mountain biker and a trekker at heart, always looking for a trail he hasn't walked yet. He's also a passionate photographer and took most of the photos in our gallery.

Pasang Tshering Sherpa

Co-founder · Director · From the Khumbu

Pasang was born in Khunde, a Khumbu village beneath Everest, and has worked in trekking and mountaineering since 1989, nearly four decades of expeditions and treks across Nepal and Tibet. He has worked side by side with Jangbu since 2000, and together they built Beyul into a company that leading international operators trust with their own clients. From Kathmandu, he runs Beyul's day-to-day operations, the permits, crews and logistics that keep every trip on track.

The Khumbu is still home, and he cares deeply about the people there. Community and social work matter a great deal to him, and he helps with local projects such as building monasteries and community facilities and restoring cultural heritage sites.

Off the clock

Pasang is a traveler at heart. He loves exploring new places and telling their stories through his vlogs and videos, so there's usually a camera in his hand. He's also the one who organizes trips for his family and extended family, both fun getaways and pilgrimages, in Nepal and abroad. Yoga keeps him grounded, and a bike ride clears his head.

A beyul is a sacred valley, hidden until the traveler is ready

Buddhists on both sides of the Himalaya believe in beyul: hidden valleys concealed and blessed by Padmasambhava, the 8th-century master who helped establish Buddhism in Tibet and the Himalaya, as places of refuge in difficult times.

The Khumbu, beneath Everest, is one of them. It is where our founders were born, and where many of our journeys begin.
